Couche-Tard is a Canada-based convenience store operator. The company offers tobacco products; grocery items; candy and snacks; fresh food products; beer/wine; and various beverages. Couche-Tard is also engaged in the sale of lottery tickets and issuance of money orders, calling cards and gift cards, sale of postage stamps and bus tickets, and the provision of car wash and QSR services. Couche-Tard also offers other products, including stationary energy, marine fuel, aviation fuel, lubricants and chemicals.

The company operates its business through a single segment: Sale of Goods for Immediate Consumption, Road Transportation Fuel and Other Products mainly through Corporate Stores and Franchise Operations. In FY2016, the Sale of Goods for Immediate Consumption, Road Transportation Fuel and Other Products mainly through Corporate Stores and Franchise Operations segment reported revenue of USD34,144.6 million, which accounted for 100% of the company’s total revenue.

Couche-Tard operated 7,888 convenience stores throughout North America, including 6,490 stores with road transportation fuel dispensing at the end of FY2016. Couche-Tard’s North-American network comprised 15 business units, including 11 in the US covering 41 states and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces. At the end of FY2016, in Europe, it operated a network of 2,659 stores across Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark and Sweden), Ireland, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia. Further in FY2016, Couche-Tard operated approximately 1,500 stores under Circle K banner in 13 other countries, including China, Costa Rica, Egypt, Guam, Honduras, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, the UAE and Vietnam through independent operators.

The company operates convenience stores in the US, Canada and Europe under the brand names Circle K, Couche-Tard, Mac’s, Kangaroo Express, ingo and Topaz.

Geographically, the company classifies its operations into three segments, namely the US, Canada, and Europe. In FY2016, the US segment accounted for 68.1% of the company’s total revenues; followed by Canada with 11.1%; and Europe with 20.8%.
