Genting Berhad Company is the investment holding and management company of Genting Group. The group comprises of four listed entities namely Genting Berhad and its subsidiaries, Genting Malaysia Berhad, Genting Plantations Berhad, Genting Singapore PLC and Genting Hong Kong Limited. The company has operations in the UK, the US, and other Asian countries.

The company operates through six business segments: leisure and hospitality, plantation, power, property, oil & gas and investments and others.

The leisure and hospitality segment includes the hotel, gaming and entertainment businesses, tours and travel related services, and other support services. This segment operates using various brand names including Resorts World, Maxims, Crockfords, Genting Club, and Norwegian Cruise Line. Additionally, the company has tie ups with Universal Studios, Hard Rock Hotel, Twentieth Century Fox and other renowned international brands. In FY2016, the Leisure & Hospitality segment reported revenues of MYR15,489.9 million, which accounted for 84.3% of the company’s total revenue.

The plantation segment is involved mainly in oil palm plantations, palm oil milling and related activities. It has become one of the lowest cost crude palm oil producers in Malaysia. In FY2016, the Plantation segment reported revenues of MYR1,273.7 million, which accounted for 6.9% of the company’s total revenue.

The power segment is involved in the generation and supply of electric power. This segment is one of the five initial Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in Malaysia. The segment also has ventured into two other power investments in India. In FY2016, the Power segment reported revenues of MYR1,011.5 million, which accounted for 5.5% of the company’s total revenue.

The property segment is involved in property development activities. It develops residential apartments, shop offices, condominiums, and commercial centers. In FY2016, the Property segment reported revenues of MYR186.4 million, which accounted for 1.0% of the company’s total revenue.

The oil & gas segment is involved in oil & gas exploration, development and production activities. This segment has its presence in China, Singapore and Indonesia. In FY2016, the Oil & Gas segment reported revenues of MYR220.3 million, which accounted for 1.2% of the company’s total revenue.

The investment and others segment is involved in development of bio oil, and synthetic wood plastic composites. In FY2016, the Investments & Others segment reported revenues of MYR184.0 million, which accounted for 1.0% of the company’s total revenue.

Geographically, the company classifies its operations into five segments, namely Malaysia, Singapore, UK, Asia Pacific (excluding Malaysia & Singapore), US and Bahamas. In FY2016, Malaysia segment accounted for 37.1% of the company’s total revenues, followed by Singapore with 36.5%; UK with 9.9%; Asia Pacific (excluding Malaysia & Singapore) with 8.7%; US and Bahamas with 7.7%.
