Global Partners LP is a midstream logistics and marketing company that owns, controls or have access to one of the largest terminal networks of refined petroleum products and renewable fuels. The company operates the terminals in Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (collectively, the Northeast). Global Partners also owns trans-load and storage terminals in North Dakota and Oregon that extend from the mid-continent region of the US and Canada to the East and West Coasts. The company primarily operates in the US.

Global Partners operates its business through three segments: wholesale; gasoline distribution and station operations (GDSO); and commercial. The wholesale segment engages in the logistics of selling, gathering, storage and transportation of refined petroleum products, renewable fuels, crude oil and propane. The company sells unbranded gasoline and gasoline blendstocks and diesel to wholesale distributors along with home heating oil, diesel, kerosene, residual oil and propane to home heating oil and propane retailers and wholesale distributors. The company transports the products by railcars, barges and/or pipelines pursuant to spot or long term contracts. Ethanol is shipped primarily by rail and by barge. The company produced 3 million of gasoline, crude oil, other oils and related products during the year.

As of December 31, 2016, the wholesale segment recorded revenues of $4,107 million, a decrease of 30.5% compared to FY2015. The GDSO segment sells branded and unbranded gasoline to gasoline stations operators and other sub-jobbers (petroleum marketers). This segment also includes gasoline; convenience stores; rental income from gasoline stations leased to dealers, from commissioned agents and from cobranding arrangements; and sundries (such as car wash sales, lottery and automated teller machine (ATM) commissions). The results of Warren and Capitol are also included in the GDSO segment. In FY2016, the company had a portfolio of approximately 1,458owned, leased, and/or supplied gasoline stations primarily in the Northeast. The company sold unbranded gasoline and diesel, including its proprietary premium brand, Diesel One.

During FY2016, the company produced 1.6million gallons of gasoline.The GDSO segment recorded revenues of $3,443.2 million in FY2016, a decrease of 6.2% over FY2015. The commercial segment engages in the sales and deliveries to end user customers in the public sector and to large commercial and industrial end users of unbranded gasoline, home heating oil, diesel, kerosene, residual oil, bunker fuel and natural gas. The segment sells products primarily either through a competitive bidding process or through contracts of various terms. The company also includes sales of custom blended fuels delivered by barges or from a terminal dock to ships through bunkering activity.
